On February 27, 1870, following a service in Stuyvesant Landing, a congregational order was adopted declaring the German Evangelical Lutheran Congregation in Stuyvesant.  In it's 25th year the congregation joined the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri, Ohio.  The current church and fellowship hall were built in 1967 and were dedicated on December 3, 1967.  The old church was demolished in July of 1968 and the altar that is currently in the fellowship hall is from the original church.

The mission of St. John's is to give honor and glory to God by promoting spiritual growth and foster fellowship among its members and the community.  This mission is central to the activities at St. John's and is carried out through its various activities and programs.  Going hand and hand with this is sharing of the Gospel message of the life giving sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  For it is through His redemptive work on the cross that each of us through faith is saved.
